Foodie Destination

There are currently 8 restaurants which are listed in the Michelin Guide or come Recommended. The VisitAberdeenshire website lists the business currently in the guide.  You will also be able to find lot’s of other foodie experiences listed and our next episode of the podcast will cover more on Food & Drink Tourism and Experiences too.

The North East corner of Scotland has been serving and creating some of Scotland’s premium produce for a long time and is creating a name for itself as an iconic food and drink destination.  Visit Scotland offers a “Taste our Best” accreditation, which aims to recognise and celebrate businesses who offer locally sourced ingredients on their menu.  In Aberdeenshire we have over 80 eateries which have received this accreditation meaning we do our best so serve you the best!  Be sure to look for the Taste Our Best logos and you’ll know that you will be in for a treat.

Catering for all tastes

Visitors and guests who opt for a vegetarian or vegan cuisine can rest easy as Aberdeen has several opportunities for you to enjoy a delicious meal in the city.  Most restaurants and cafes have updated their menus in recent times and will have something on their menu which is suitable.  But if you want to go where the locals go, then try some of these.  Brewdog.  Yes, BrewDog is first and foremost a brewer and they do have several bars in the city and shire.  But did you know they also offer great vegan food too!  We simply must list Food Story as well.  If you want to have something special and not just a run of the mill cafe, then this is the place for  you. Food Story is a group of people who  had a dream of building a space where anyone of any age, any walk of life of life could not just eat great food but could come in and feel part of a community.   If you fancy visiting one of our high end food experiences, the restaurant at Douneside will offer a gastronomic feast.

Culinary Holiday

It is possible to combine the best of both worlds, sightseeing and eating fabulous food.  Consider planning a route like the North East 250 for example or get creative and do your own, where you could have a lunch in one of Aberdeenshire fantastic independent cafes or restaurants and finish your day at one of our stunning hotels or high end eateries.  You might need to pack a few extra clothes and be prepared to gain a pound or two but it would be worth it.  Read the blog from Katie Milne and discover your next destination.  You can find on the VisitAberdeenshire website a great new feature call map.  You can use it like a route planner and work out your journey based on the places you want to visit.  Give it a go, what an adventure it will be. (Please be sure to pre-book and check the venues are open)
