Looking forward to 2019

After a successful spring/summer season at Grampian Escapes we are in full swing preparing our tours for 2019.

We have a returning favourite; the Taste of Scotland tour, which proved to be a popular choice. What is not to love about seeing two of Scotland’s iconic attractions castles & whisky! Also, very popular was our food tasting experience during the taste of Scotland tour. Highlights included the famous Scotch Egg from the Presly the butcher in Old Meldrum, cheeses from Devenick Dairy, Rowies from J.G. Ross (Butteries depending on where you’re from) and not forgetting the stunning berries from Barra Berries our local producers.

We have revised the Castle tour to include Dunnottar Castle, Edzell Caste and Crathes. This tour will be running on Sundays in the next season. Dunnottar Castle is a hugely popular destination and we felt we needed more time to visit this amazing site, so we are listening to our customers and making this stop a feature in the next season offering.

We are introducing a new tour for 2019; the Castles & Brewery Tour. We have great pleasure of announcing a new working partnership with BrewDog Brewery and House of Schivas in Ellon. In this tour we will visit two castles, House of Schivas which is still in private ownership & generally not open to the public and New Slains Castle. We finish the day with BrewDog with an exciting tour at the Brewery, where were learn all about the journey of creating craft beer and more importantly sample the goods.

We know Balmoral is high on many people’s “to do list” so in 2019 we will again be offering tours to the Estate on Wednesdays. This tour only has a limited season as Balmoral is only open for a few months every spring. The visit is a must for anyone who wants to walk in the footsteps of the Royal family, the audio tour is very good for sharing stories about the Estate and the people who were influential in creating what we see today.

Although we are forging ahead with preparing for next year we do have three tours running through the Winter Season: The Whisky Experience (Fri), the Aberdeenshire Explorer (Sat) and the Highland Fling (Sun). Traditionally the touring season ends at the end of October, but we have noticed that people don’t stop travelling so we won’t stop offering interesting excursions. Do join us on our next venture into the Highlands!

We would also like to thank The Craftsman for their continued support. They very generously allow us to meet our guests at their Coffee & Ale House on the corner of Guild & Market Street. Your great coffee and welcoming staff help to set the mood for a great day out. Thank You.

We would also like to thank everyone who joined us on tours so far this year. We have loved meeting people from all corners of the world and sharing with you the things which make Scotland great. We have made some wonderful new friends and hope to see you again.
